Change of Plans

As you probably have noticed, I have made a change of plans. Originally, I was planing on traveling to Bali, but a different opportunity arose through my school to volunteer in Bolivia to help the Rio Beni Health Project. It was a difficult decision to make, but this opportunity seemed like a better choice for this summer as it is being led by one of my teachers, Jim Brady, that I respect, and other friends from my school will be traveling with me. I am so grateful for all the funds I have received, but I’m not done yet! My parents have agreed to pay for half of the $3,600 ticket, and I have raised $500, so I have $1,300 to go. I’m still baking cookies and accepting donations, and have a lot of work to do! Thanks for all the support!

I have had such an amazing week! So many orders have been placed, mostly thanks to Kat Evans who wrote a beautiful post about Baking for Bali in her blog! More and more people are hearing about my story and passing it along, and I wanted to thank everyone for the support. So far, I have raised about $500 toward my trip, and getting more orders by the day! I am so happy and can’t wait until the summer!

Hi! My name is Marandah, and I am on a mission to travel the world in order to gain experiences, make connections and meet new people. I also happen to make the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. I’m determined to travel to Bolivia, where a group of students and I will be volunteering in remote villages to install water filters and help in health clinics through the Rio Beni Health Project.
